Flowering generally occurs in the warm season.\u003cbr\u003eThe root\/caudex is edible, having a slightly sweet taste. Some sources claim that the latex from the caudex has a degree of toxicity.\u003cbr\u003eThe plant requires minimal care, and watering should be done very rarely, only when the caudex shows signs of dehydration. A substrate with good drainage is necessary. It tolerates occasional temperatures down to -2 °C.
