In spring and summer, mature specimens produce large, tubular flowers in intense shades ranging from orange-red to salmon, creating a spectacular contrast with the golden spines. Due to its trailing habit, it is one of the most appreciated species for hanging pots, where its decorative appearance can be best showcased.

🌿 Botanical characteristics:

Full name: Cleistocactus winteri (syn. Hildewintera aureispina)

Common name: Monkey’s Tail Cactus

Family: Cactaceae

Plant type: perennial succulent cactus

Cylindrical, trailing stems covered with fine, golden spines

Forms dense clumps through branching from the base

Tubular flowers, orange-red to salmon, appearing on mature specimens

Moderate growth

Stem length at maturity: may exceed 100 cm under optimal conditions

🌞 Growing conditions:

Light: prefers a very bright position, with a few hours of direct sunlight in the morning or afternoon.

Substrate: very well-drained, intended for cacti and succulents.

Watering: reduced; water only after the substrate has dried completely.

Temperature: optimal growth range: 18–30°C.
