Pumice stone (Pumice) 5-12 mm - Premium drainage and aeration for substrate
Pumice (Pumice) is a natural mineral material of volcanic origin, used mixed with substrate to improve aeration, drainage, and water-retention capacity.
Its highly porous structure allows it to absorb and retain water inside the granules, releasing it gradually into the root zone. At the same time, the coarse particles help maintain a loose, well-oxygenated substrate, reducing the risk of compaction and water stagnation.
Pumice forms from gas-rich volcanic lava that cools and solidifies rapidly, resulting in a lightweight, porous, and durable rock.
🌿 Features
- Product: Pumice / Pumice stone

✨ Benefits in substrate
- increases porosity and aeration in the root zone
- improves drainage
- helps the substrate retain a water reserve without becoming compacted
- reduces the risk of water stagnation
- helps maintain a stable structure over time
- promotes the development of a well-oxygenated root system
- can be used in substrates for houseplants, cacti, succulents, bonsai, and collector plants
🪴 How to use
Pumice is used mixed with substrate, in varying proportions depending on the plant type and drainage requirements.
The 5-12 mm particle size is particularly suitable for coarser mixes, medium and large pots, plants with roots sensitive to excess water, and substrates where high aeration is desired.
It can be combined with peat, coco coir, bark, perlite, volcanic lava, or other mineral and organic components.
📌 Note
Bulk product, packed in zip bags by Secret Garden staff.
Due to the nature of the material, small differences in volume or a normal variation between packages may occur, determined by the porosity of the granules, degree of compaction, moisture, and material density.
As a natural mineral product, the size, shape, and color of the granules may vary slightly from one batch to another. The product may also contain a small amount of mineral dust resulting from handling and transport.
🌍 Note for international orders
Adding substrate, soil, or mineral component products to international orders increases the shipping cost due to the additional weight. An additional cost of 10 RON (approx. 2 EUR) applies to each item ordered.
