Shrub hydrangea - Hydrangea paniculata 'Phantom'

Hydrangea paniculata 'Phantom', also known as panicle hydrangea, is a hydrangea variety with exceptionally attractive blooms. Native to East Asia, this plant belongs to the Hydrangeaceae family.

This hydrangea variety grows as a shrub or small tree, reaching heights of up to 3-4 meters. Its leaves are dark green and oval, with serrated edges, providing a pleasing contrast to its distinctive flowers.

As for its flowers, Hydrangea paniculata 'Phantom' is known for its conical flower clusters, which can reach up to 30 cm in length. The flowers appear from summer until late autumn, starting out creamy white before turning pale pink and then deepening to a bright pink, becoming a true "Pink Diamond". This color change creates an impressive visual display and enhances the plants' ornamental value.

Hydrangea 'Phantom' is resistant to most diseases and pests. Like other hydrangeas, it prefers well-drained soil rich in organic matter and a position with partial sun or shade. This hydrangea variety is an excellent choice for mixed borders, flower gardens, and as a focal point in the garden.

Unlike other hydrangea varieties, Hydrangea paniculata 'Phantom' does not necessarily need acidic soil to grow and bloom well. In fact, this plant is known for its ability to adapt to a wide range of soil conditions, including neutral or slightly alkaline soils. The flower color is not affected by soil pH.

Cold hardiness: down to -40°C

Note: During the cold season, garden plants are sold without leaves and pruned to encourage branching.
